Interpreting Moons Moat

On Sunday 28th July, regular Moons Moat volunteers, Julie. Phil, Peter and myself were joined by Monica & Paul Stringfellow and Bill Hartnett to install two Interpretation Boards at the Moat. The installation of the boards, one featuring the History and Archaeology of the site, the other the Wildlife and Ecology is the last step in a five year journey to enable visitors to the site to understand the significance of this site to Redditch.

Friendly rivalry broke out between Peter and Paul digging holes or the Nature boards and Phil, Bill and myself digging for the History board. Stoney ground being the challenge to dig down some 24cm. The warm weather did not help. Pleased to say after about 3 hours both boards were successfully in place.

So the site now has a 10 post nature trail to follow and two interpretation boards to highlight why this historic site is another gem in Redditch’s illustrious history.

Our next volunteers day will be later this month, please come and help us maintain and develop the site.
